Passionate about making a difference, William “Thomas” Holt strives to inspire readers to be creative, enjoy life and learn new things…having fun along the way. For years his focus and reward has been to positively impact the lives of others, whether mentoring through organizations, or on a one-to-one basis. A North Carolina native, to say William came from “humble beginnings” would be an understatement. Raised in a single parent home, the middle child of six siblings, his environment created a need for escape.
During his early years, his grandfather “Pa’ Paw” came to the rescue through summer trips to the countryside where the Pa’ Paw tales were born. Although Pa’ Paw has been gone over 20 years, the lessons he taught William have been instrumental to his success as a businessman, an entrepreneur, and a family man. When William is not writing or hard at work, this father of four children enjoys sports, arts, and spending time with family in the South Florida sunshine.
I am a big kid at heart, but more than anything, I strive to be a good example. When a child looks at me I hope they are encouraged and know they can be anything they work hard to be. You can be greater than your surroundings, you can choose to be happy and your character says more about you than your words ever could.
Even though I am a hard-working business executive, an entrepreneur and a professional, I love to have fun! I love telling stories, whether it is through writing books, poetry or live in person, and I love to entertain!
I bring a fun and energetic presentation filled with activity, laughs and those “ah ha” moments that linger to shape responses to adversity. It has been well said, If you simply say, one could forget, if you show one may remember, but when you involve one will understand. This is the magic my Pa’ Paw brought to learning and what I use to teach today’s kids. My books are more than just great, true stories, they are tools to build character – because character is a journey, not a destination. From my books, to the customized activity books and games, I give readers a reason to pick up these tales again and again.
Anytime I am asked why I write children’s books, I share these three truths. First, I want to encourage and promote literacy. Readers are leaders, and knowledge applied has great power. Second, it’s “intergenerational connection”. Simply put it is helping the young connect with those who care about them, no matter their age, and create an environment of fun, learning and mutual respect. Third, I aspire to continue the legacy my Pa’ Paw created by investing in my life and sharing the wisdom that helped shape who I am today.
